Update on Chrome Situation

It still sucks. In fact, it got worse because now every time I open chrome and open a new tab there, it will automatically try to download an f.txt file. I've done my usual malware and junkware scan but this one proves to be stubborn. Any advice?

And about Chrome not being cooperative, could it be the flash (which I've been told there's nothing to do about)? Or something else? tacuma811 said she had this problem for months and it disappeared after she upgraded to Windows 10 but I don't want to upgrade. I also noticed that after every Windows Explorer crash, Chrome started working properly again. I can't figure out what triggers these crashes. Sometimes it happens when I try to open a program but other times it just sort of happens for no clear reason. Never mind this, it doesn't always work. Sometimes the error stays. Anyway, now chrome mostly displays blank pages though if I let it sit long enough it'll auto refresh and show codes again or it'll make chrome crash. Error notifications are now rare.

Also I tried to use Safari the other day. It worked well until I closed the window and couldn't reopen it. I've clicked the icon, restart, do anything I can think of to open the program, but it wouldn't budge. Any suggestion for alternative to Chrome?

So, basically, help? I don't want to send my laptop away to be repaired because I have all my work docs and fics there.

I wrote a thing to reply to this on my phone but it disappeared because somehow I wasn't logged in? Or something, since I never log out. I'll rewrite it anyway.

You definitely have it worse than I did. I didn't have the weird downloading thing or the other browsers who stopped working. Firefox worked just fine. All of your browsers have problems, right? None of them is working perfectly, so I'm not sure if this really is a Chrome problem. Have you tried reinstalling Chrome? Also, why don't you want to switch to Windows 10? It's not that big a deal, not much has changed. For me it's actually faster than it used to be.

But if reinstalling doesn't work you should let someone take a look at it. This doesn't sound good, but it might be something relatively easy to solve. Also, try asking this question on a more computer focused website? Are there any forums or something like that in Indonesia?

lol your comment was screened because you're not logged in. I can see it, though :P

I've tries reinstalling and everything. I don't wanna switch to Windows 10 because I'm not sure my laptop can handle it tbh. It's kinda a last resort thing which I'll let people decide for me because I'm not sure if it's a good idea or not.

I've looked around but so far none of the solution is working. I'm looking for my computer nerd friend but he's MIA (probably off somewhere watching hentai). My friend's bf is also having the same problem. He has no solution so far, either, and switched to another browser for now.

Oh that makes sense XD

My computer was crappy but is working better with windows 10. Not sure if it would be the same for your laptop though

I really hope someone can help you out! :(

I hope I can solve this myself but I'm getting more and more skeptical because it seems that the error is spreading. I think if this is still not resolved by the end of the week, I shall hospitalized my laptop. Let the pro deal with this :(
